ATF Increases Reward for Texas Arsonist to $25K

The reward for information pertaining to the identity of an arsonist who has burned at least eight churches in East Texas over the last two months has been increased to $25,000.

The reward is being offered by the United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, as well as the Henderson County, Texas Crime Stoppers and a church insurance company.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, anyone with information on the person or persons committing the crimes should call 903-675-0061 or 903-675-0062. Phones are answered twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. You can also call 888-ATF-FIRE (888-283-3473).

Since the beginning of the new year, seven fires in east Texas and another in Temple have been ruled as arson.

The U.S. ATFE says that two church fires that occurred Monday night in Tyler, Texas are being investigated as suspicious.
