Is there an Austin backflow prevention ordinance?
The Backflow Prevention Ordinance of the city of Austin applies to all reclaimed water customers who also have a potable water service. The ordinance states that a backflow prevention device must be installed on any potable water connection to the potable water system. Fire line connections can use a double-check valve backflow assembly, installed underground. In addition, domestic potable water connections must have a reduced pressure backflow prevention system, which may be installed above-ground.
