What do the tags mean?

The State has put together a system of tags. The sprinkler systems can have blue, yellow, red, and white tags. The blue tag is put on a system after an inspection. The yellow tag is placed on the system if it is non-compliant with NFPA standards or has recalled equipment. It shows that there is a problem and corrective action is needed. The red tag indicates the system has a problem which constitutes an emergency impairment, as defined in the adopted edition of NFPA 25. The white tag indicates that service has been conducted on that riser.

The fire alarm tagging system is very similar: they can have blue, yellow, red, and white tags. The blue tag is an inspection tag. The yellow tag is placed on a system if not installed to code. The red tag is placed on a system if it is impaired, faulty, or inoperable. The white tag is a service tag and indicates that service has been performed on the system.
